Our First Classroom Valentine's Party

It was SO cute! Today was Gavin's first classroom party and it was adorable! The kids were given a list of students who were participating (there are a few kids in his class that dont participate for religious reasons) and they were to bring Valentine's to hand out today and parents were asked to bring a snack to share.

Gavin, who FINALLY takes after me in something- insisted on making his Valentine's himself. He wanted no part of store bought or even cricut cut valentine cards. He designed and planned out the whole thing. It ended up being a heart folded in half- that HE CUT OUT on his own, that i was instructed to write "Happy Valentines Day" inside of. Then he stuck some felt hearts that we bought at Michael's inside as decor.

To go along with the Gavin's cards, I made bags for each of the kids. I bought bags that were a little larger than needed so they could use them not only be for Gavin's card, but to put all their other Valentines in also.

The final part of the valentine was lollipop flowers that I saw online somewhere. The hearts were cut with my cricut, and I punched small holes by the tips to slide up the sucker stick. I tied green curling ribbon just under them to keep the "petals" in place and represent leaves.

For both kids teachers (Gavin has 1 and Grady has 2) I used mini metal mailboxes (say that 5 times fast!) that I got at Target last year. These have been all over blogland since Target introduced them a few years ago. I never made any in the previous years, but now that there are teachers to gift- they sure come in handy!!
A few cricut cuts (the hearts on the mail box flag and the envelopes on the front) and some paper- and they are cute as can be! I filled each with chocolate and a valentine card from the kids.

I love Valentines day!! I really enjoy giving little gifts to those I love and this is just another excuse to do it!
