Last weekend hubby mentioned that for our family fun day we could head up to the snow. The kids had never played in it before and so they were SO excited! A quick trip to Big 5 for gloves and sleds (come on people! We don't actually own any snow gear, we live on the coast!) and we were on our way!
An hour and a half later, we were a county away and several hundred feet up from where we started. It was a balmy 28 degrees out (ah!) but I was actually kind of warm in all my layers. Leggings, Jeans, Uggs, a tank top, long sleeved shirt, sweatshirt, and snow boarding jacket. A jacket that I bought when I moved to Cali 5 years ago from the desert. I worse it every winter day almost, back then. Now I can say that I am happily acclimated and rarely wear it. The kids were layers too in their carters zip up fleece jammies, under lined warm up pants and a long sleeved shirt, with a heavy jacket over top.
As we made our way up the mountain, we went from over cast skies, actually being IN the clouds, to bright sunshine at the top.
This is me sledding down what looked like a small hill... until I was speeding down it on a piece of plastic!
After a while, Monk chose to forgo the sled all together and just slid down on his rear.
