A couple Mondays ago, Monk's class took a field trip to the zoo. Our closest zoo is about an hour drive from us, so its kind of a big deal when we get to go. We all met and entered the zoo at about 10am. Then went our separate ways until lunch time when we met back up. After lunch, we wandered around a bit again and headed home around 2. The kids were WORN OUT and slept the whole way home, then went to bed a little early that night. It was a lot of fun and GORGEOUS 80 degree weather!!
The elephants are always a big hit...
I love taking pictures of flamingos. I always end up with a ton of them. EVERY time we go.
The goofy Gibbons. You can hear their calls through out the whole zoo. This white one is especially loud.
Heres another gibbon- oh wait! Thats not a gibbon, thats my kid! Over by the park area where we stopped for lunch, there is this cool rope spider web for the kids to climb on.
Another fun spot in the park area. A big turf covered hill. Its perfect for sliding down on a piece of cardboard. We also found out that your zoo map works really well as a sled, too :)
so Im a sucker, and had some cash in my wallet for a change, and I let the kids feed the giraffes. It was $5 a piece, but they loved it!
The cutie-patootie meerkats.
And our Bald Eagle...
We ended up buying a membership for the zoo right before we went, so now we can go anytime we want and not spend a ton of money to get in. Im sure we will make at least a couple trips down there this summer. I cant wait!
Ill leave you with one last picture... this was our view from one of the snack bars when we stopped to get some dippin' dots ice cream-
