I decided at the last minute to make T-shirts for the boys to wear for the 4th. This is not the project I started a few weeks ago when I did a post about my new sewing machine. *That* project is not done yet. Its not that complicated, I am just that busy doing other things.
Anyway, some time on Monday morning, I decided tshirts for the holiday would be a good idea. I had no idea what I was doing, nor did I have much of a plan for what I wanted the out come to be. I grabbed an old red tshirt from my pajama drawer, and a blue tank top from my shirt drawer and went to town! Its like now that I have a sewing machine, I think I magically got sewing skills with it. HA!
I didnt take any pictures during this process. I was too busy sweating over getting it done and taking a shower before people started showing up at my house! I do, however, have some pics of the finished product in action.
Heres the Pea. He told me he wanted stars on his shirt.I cut some red strips of tshirt, rather haphazardly, and stitched them on with one straight line down the middle. I was going for a kind of shabby look. Yeah, thats it! I figured when I wash it and the edges curl up a bit, itll look cool. Maybe. Or maybe he will never wear it again. And im ok with that too. The stars are glued on with fabric glue, since I messed up the stitching on the first one, I didnt want to waste more time.
Monk's is only slightly more complicated. Same haphazard red strips. But this time I threw in a blue square too. I dug through my button stash for some largish white buttons and glued them on with fabric glue.
So there ya go... the beginners guide to 4th of July T-shirts ;)
